Socialism is on the horizon. Countless working people are speaking of this, without quite knowing the meaning of the word. As well, a great many capitalists and their supporters are referring to socialism, the difference being that the capitalists are well aware of the meaning of the word. It means the Dictatorship Of the Proletariat, and it is their greatest nightmare. It terrifies them, with good reason.
Yet there are a great many people, middle class as well as working class, who are afraid to face socialism, for no good reason. Perhaps because it is different, and for some reason, there are people who become accustomed to the old, the familiar, and appear to be scared of the new. To such people, most of whom are probably in their declining years, I can only suggest that you embrace socialism, as it is far more comfortable, at least for the working class. Capitalism is old, it is dying, it is rotten to the core. Socialism is new, different, fresh, growing and gaining strength. Feel free to embrace the new and different. Socialism is the future, it is almost here, and it is here to stay.
It may help to think of capitalism as an old, broken down, rusty vehicle, a rattle trap. To throw a coat of paint on such a vehicle does not change the fact that it is worn out, ready for the scrap yard. In much the same way, to send new faces to Washington does not change the fact that capitalism is worn out, about to be scrapped, and no change of face, regardless of how pretty the face, will change that.
The fact is that the only way to socialism is through destruction. Revolution could break out any day, which is civil war, the class struggle at its highest pitch, a legitimate war to overthrow the bourgeoisie. There is no other way to liberate the working class, to end their oppression and exploitation, except through revolution and the subsequent Dictatorship Of the Proletariat.
Without doubt there are a great many starry eyed optimists who dispute that statement. To those honest, misguided souls I can only suggest that you take a moment, give it some serious thought and face the fact that destruction, in this case in the form of revolution, is about to happen. There is no other way. It is absolutely necessary, and it is a wonderful thing.
All Marxists are well aware that it is not possible to ”introduce” socialism. It takes shape in the course of the most intense, acute class struggle and civil war. As Lenin put it, ”violence is always the midwife of the old society”. He went on to say that ”a special system of organized coercion of a definite class corresponds to the transitional period between the bourgeois and the socialist society, namely the Dictatorship Of the Proletariat.” The implication is that even after the conquest of power by the proletariat, after the bourgeoisie is overthrown, a state of simmering war will continue. The bourgeoisie will not resign themselves to their fate. They are not about to bow down to their conquerers and pledge allegiance to the new social order. On the contrary, they will resort to every subterfuge, probe for any weakness, and at best bide their time until they think the time is ripe, and then they will strike. That is precisely the reason the proletariat must be ever vigilant, constantly using armed force against the bourgeoisie.
The proletariat must be educated in the class struggle. They have to learn the skills required to become the ruling class and crush the bourgeoisie. These skills are not dropped from the sky as mannah from heaven. Even before the revolution, the working class must wage a stubborn, desperate struggle against the bourgeoisie, as experience is a fine teacher. The skills the workers learn now will serve them well after the revolution, as the resistance of the bourgeoisie will not fade away, but on the contrary, increase ten fold, as they make every effort to restore their ”paradise lost”. As for those who doubt this, bear in mind the fact that no one wants to lower their standard of living. The billionaires, those who are accustomed to spending millions of dollars on themselves every month, if not every day, are no exception.
In the spirit of educating the working class and at the same time destroying the bourgeois state apparatus which has been set up to ”govern” the country, I can suggest that Americans join the two parties, Democratic and Republican, and encourage their family and friends to do the same. It may help to think of this as killing two birds with one stone. As countless Americans join the two parties, they will accomplish that which a great many Leftist people have tried to do over the years, but failed. They will succeed in destroying the two party system which has served the capitalists since the days of the Civil War. In the process, they will receive a valuable education in the existence of classes and the struggle between the classes. The education they receive now will serve them well after the revolution, when they will take an active role in exercising dictatorship over the bourgeoisie.
At the moment, the press is focused on Trump and the presidential debates. This is orchestrated by the bourgeoisie as a means of diverting the revolutionary working class movement onto some harmless sideline, such as impeaching Trump and focusing on a possible candidate to replace him. They want the working class to focus on anything but the fact that the bourgeoisie is the problem and no change of face in Washington will change that. The working class has to learn that Trump is not the problem. The bourgeoisie is the problem, and that whole class has to be overthrown and crushed.
For that reason, I am suggesting that if there are enough working class people who join the parties as card carrying members, then the presidential debates will be meaningless, as those same card carrying members will decide the candidate to run for all offices, and that includes the presidency. Not only the presidential debates but also the impeachment and removal of Trump from office will then be meaningless.
Assuming that millions of Americans join the two parties, then the bourgeoisie will no doubt change their method of rule, and the workers will receive a further education. That response could well trigger an insurrection, resulting in the overthrow of the bourgeoisie. That will in turn result in an entirely new historical period, one which is required for the suppression of the capitalists, the bourgeoisie. That historical period is referred to as the Dictatorship Of the Proletariat. I suspect that day is closer than most people suspect. With that in mind, I can only suggest that the posters and banners proclaim:
Dictatorship Of the Proletariat!
Workers of the World, Unite!
Scientific Socialism!
Marx and Lenin Forever!
