The Insanity of Donald Trump 

As is well known, President Donald Trump is under extreme pressure, due to the recently released Epstein Files. It is clear that Trump was closely ‘’associated’’ with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, one who literally made a career of ‘’trafficking’’, which is to say selling, underage girls. This begs the question: How closely was Trump involved with Epstein?

Epstein was certainly a pedophile, which is a child molester, as well as a ‘’human trafficker’’, which is a polite way of describing someone who sells people, a slave trader. Such people are among the lowest forms of humanity. Which is not to say that they are completely stupid. Certainly, no one ever accused Jeffrey Epstein of being stupid.

On the contrary, Epstein was a shrewd business man, a most astute capitalist. All capitalists are constantly looking for ‘’opportunities’’, to use their expression, and Epstein was no exception. He merely identified a ‘’market’’, for underage girls, among the class of people, commonly referred to as multi billionaires, or monopoly capitalists, or imperialists, technically referred to as the bourgeoisie. Mind you, they generally refer to themselves as ‘’entrepreneurs’’. As if changing the name changes the nature of the beast!

This brings us to that which the capitalists refer to as the ‘’law of supply and demand’’. After Epstein identified this ‘’market’’, that of underage girls to be raped, by the ‘’filthy rich’’, he decided to meet that ‘’demand’’, with his own personal ‘’supply’’. 

Epstein was a typical capitalist. Even though he was aware that selling these underage girls would ruin their lives, that did not concern him. Not in the slightest! It was strictly a business matter. That was precisely the same opinion of those who bought those girls. Nothing personal. Just business.

Over a period of many years, it is estimated that over a thousand underage girls, children, were ‘’trafficked’’, which is to say sold, to a great many very rich men. Those men are every bit as guilty as Epstein! Pedophiles, one and all. As yet, not one of them has been brought to justice. And if Trump has his way, they never will be!

It is most encouraging that a great many women, who were raped as children, are now coming forward, demanding justice. They certainly know the identities of the ‘’rich and powerful’’ men who raped them. They are equally well aware that such men are prepared to go to great lengths to ‘’protect their reputations’’. God forbid that anyone should accuse them of being pedophiles!

Yet the Epstein Scandal just will not ‘’go away’’. Despite the finest efforts of President Trump, it continues to ‘’make headlines’’. Clearly, drastic measures are required. Measures that will replace the Epstein Scandal headlines, with a different set of headlines. And nothing creates headlines like war!

In an attempt to divert the attention of the public, the common people, from the Epstein Scandal, Trump ordered the military to first invade the sovereign country of  Venezuela, to kidnap President Maduro and his wife, and bring them to America, to face charges. Trump then set himself up as the ‘’Acting President of Venezuela’’, and plans to extract the oil in that country. That is one sure way to start a war!

Trump also plans to ‘’annex’’ Greenland, ‘’one way or another’’. Preferably by war, no doubt, as that creates more headlines. As Greenland belongs to Denmark, and as Denmark is a member of NATO, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, that would mean going to war with Denmark, and possibly other European countries. It would also mean the end of NATO. Better yet! More headlines! Less ‘’nonsense’’ concerning the Epstein Scandal!

Trump has also sent massive military ‘’assets’’, including an aircraft carrier task force, to the Middle East, in preparation for war with Iran. More headlines!

This has caused deep concern among various countries, within the region. They have the utmost respect for the military ability of Iran. Their concern is that such a war, between America and Iran, would spread throughout the whole area. Their fears are well grounded. 

Iran has made it abundantly clear that a war with America would not be limited to Americans. They plan to strike American bases in all parts of the Middle East. Those who ‘’harbour’’ or shelter American bases, are effectively ‘’fair game’’. 

One of the largest American air bases in the region, is that of Udeid, located in the country of Qatar. There are possibly as many as ten thousand military personnel on that one base. It is no secret that Iran has that base ‘’in their sights’’, so to speak. In case of war with America, Iran will give Udeid the attention it deserves. As well as the country of Qatar, if necessary.

There are numerous other American military bases in the region. And rest assured, the Iranians are fully prepared to strike each and every one of them, in case of a war with America.

The countries which host these American military bases, are well aware of this. They are also well aware that the Iranians are not to be under estimated. For many years, they have been developing projectiles, mainly in the form of drones and missiles. This makes so much more sense than challenging their enemies, including the Israeli’s and Americans, in terms of air power. After all, at some point, all aircraft have to land. It is the American air bases and war ships that are weakest.

Those same countries, which are thought to be American allies, are now ‘’considering their options’’. For the most part, their leaders are feudal monarchs, self proclaimed kings, every bit as determined to remain in power, as are the clerics of Iran. They are now focused on ‘’self preservation’’. If they get the idea that Iran is about to win a war with America, they will not hesitate to evict Americans from those air bases, and even join the Iranians, in the war against the Americans, as it is in their best interest to do so.

The recent Twelve Day War with Israel, provided the Iranian military with a great deal of practical experience. They succeeded in penetrating the Israeli air defences. Now they know how it is done. Israeli or American, it makes no difference. 

It is also a fact that the Iranians used but a fraction of their military hardware, in their war with Israel. Some of their finest missiles were kept in reserve. These include missiles which are extremely fast, accurate and very powerful. One well placed, powerful missile could be enough to wipe out the most powerful warship. The American military would be well advised to bear this in mind.

Trump is using the excuse that the Iranians are killing their own people, as a pretence for war. As there is a Revolution going on in Iran, the government is determined to crush the rebellion. Their response is supremely brutal, as is characteristic of all feudal monarchies. Not that the current regime in Iran is a feudal monarchy, but a clerical dictatorship, one which has evolved from such a monarchy. The method of rule is similar.

Yet it is also true that a Revolution is currently raging in America. As a highly industrialized country, their method of rule is somewhat different. The American response to that which they refer to as ‘’wide spread protests’’, is not so blatantly brutal. It tends to be more subtle, although there is still the occasional instance of cold blooded murder. The shooting death of Renee Nicole Good, a 37 year old mother of three, was one such instance. Even though her murder was video recorded, the officer involved, a member of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, has yet to be charged.

Of course, the mainstream press is not pointing out the hypocrisy of Trump. To condemn the government of Iran, for shooting down peaceful protesters, while condoning the shooting death of an American protester, is the height of hypocrisy. But then, this is typical of the mainstream media. It is not reasonable to expect anything better from them. 

Strangely enough, the ‘’alternative press’’, which refers to itself as the ‘’Leftist press’’, is also remaining silent on this issue. This brings into question, just how Leftist they really are.

As is well known, Trump is using a modified version of the Monroe Doctrine, which he refers to as the Donroe Doctrine, as the legal justification for invading Venezuela, as well as taking over Greenland. Then too, he has plans to go to war with Columbia and Panama. As well, he plans to ‘’annex Canada’’, making it the ‘’Fifty First State’’. As all of these countries are in the western hemisphere, they are ‘’covered’’ by the ‘’Donroe Doctrine’’. But Iran? A country in West Asia?

His ‘’legal justification’’, for going to war with Iran, lies with the ‘’Emergency War Powers Act’’. This grants the President ‘’special powers during times of war or national emergency’’. 

The astute reader may wonder just what the Iranian Revolution, that Civil War, has to do with an American national emergency? The answer is, nothing whatsoever!

As regards the American government response to the current American Revolution, Trump is also determined to crush this rebellion. The movement is so powerful, that the local police have refused to take part in any attempt to control the ‘’protests’’. For that reason, Trump has sent in federal agents, to ‘’restore law and order’’. These include agents from ICE, FBI, Border Patrol, Homeland Security and ATF, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. 

The legal ‘’justification’’ for this extreme ‘’show of force’’, lies with the ‘’Insurrection Act’’. Under this Act, the President has the authority to ‘’call upon the military to address situations of insurrection, domestic violence, or unlawful combinations that obstruct federal laws. It serves as a significant exception to the Posse Comitatus Act, which generally prohibits the military from acting as a police force within the United States’’.   

Strictly speaking, these federal agents are not members of the military. Yet there are possibly over two thousand of them, within the state of Minnesota alone. They are facing fierce resistance, from the residents of that state. So Trump is giving serious consideration to sending in federal troops, in order to assist them. 

Yet the Governor of Minnesota has a different set of priorities. He takes a ‘’dim view’’, of his citizens being manhandled, arrested and even shot, by federal ‘’goons’’. It is reported that he is giving serious consideration to calling out his own military, in the form of the Minnesota State National Guard. 

This gives rise to the very real possibility of American troops going to war with American troops! Full scale Civil War!

As a result of this, it is perhaps not too surprising, that numerous high ranking government officials are now seriously considering the option of invoking the Twenty Fifth Amendment to the Constitution, as a means of stopping Trump. He is determined to provoke several wars, with numerous countries, to be fought on different fronts. Not to mention a Civil War, within the country!

As I have covered the Twenty Fifth Amendment in a previous article, there is no need to repeat it here. Suffice it to say that previously, there were a great many people who questioned the sanity of Trump. Not any more. With his latest actions, he has managed to remove all doubt!

Yet in all seriousness, as the preceding was meant as a rather poor joke, the mental health of Trump is not the issue. He may or may not be suffering from a form of mental illness. And rest assured, mental illness is not a joking matter. Neither is the fact that he is determined to engage in war, on numerous fronts, including within the country of America!

The fact must be stressed that, as Lenin stated in Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism, ‘’the political features of capitalism are reaction all along the line, and increased national oppression, resulting from the oppression of the financial oligarchy and the elimination of free competition’’. 

Legally insane or not, Trump is certainly a typical imperialist, in that he is completely reactionary. It is characteristic of reactionaries, that they love war. As far as Trump is concerned, the fact that war also leads to headlines, which tend to divert the attention of the common people, from the Epstein Scandal, is merely a bonus. 

Yet it is also clear that the ruling class of monopoly capitalists, the multi billionaires, the bourgeoisie, are deeply divided. Many of them are not in favour of the policy of Trump, that of creating numerous wars. 

As the Communist Manifesto describes it, they are in the ‘’process of dissolution’’. It goes on to state that this is ‘’characteristic as the class struggle nears the decisive hour’’. Now we can expect a ‘’small section’’ of the bourgeoisie to ‘’cut themselves adrift’’, and join the working class, the proletariat, the ‘’revolutionary class’’, the class that ‘’holds the future in its hands’’. 

With that in mind, may I suggest, for the benefit of these newly minted revolutionaries, these Scientific Socialists, that they take to heart the advice of Marx. As far back as 1852, he stated that ‘’the class struggle necessarily leads to the Dictatorship of the Proletariat’’.

I have deliberately placed that in italics, in order to stress the importance. Building upon that which Marx stated, Lenin went on to say that, it is simply ‘’not possible to reform the basis of imperialism’’. 

I also placed that in italics, as a means of stressing the fact that monopoly capitalism, imperialism, must be smashed, the existing state apparatus destroyed, and replaced with a new state apparatus, in the form of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat.

There are countless Utopian Socialists, who most emphatically disagree with that previous statement. They are socialists in name only. Bear in mind that anybody can call themselves socialists. There is no law against that. Yet only true Scientific Socialists call for the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, the ‘’touchstone of a true Communist’’, according to Lenin.

In America today, the DSA, Democratic Socialists of America, are spearheading the attempt to ‘’reform the basis of imperialism’’. This is mere deception, a ‘’pious wish’’, grovelling before the bourgeoisie, as it is simply not possible to reform imperialism!

The fact must be stressed that the DSA is not committed to socialism. In their mission statement, they admit that they are focused on fighting for democracy and reforms! If they were honest, they would call themselves the Democratic Reformers of America, DRA.

It is the duty of true Scientific Socialists, Communists, to draw a clear distinction between ourselves and the Utopian Socialists. That distinction lies with the Dictatorship of the Proletariat.

As countless working people are just now becoming politically active, it is only to be expected that they should become confused. That is the reason a clear distinction must be drawn.

Donald Trump and the Twenty Fifth Amendment

President Trump recently sent the American military on a mission, an invasion of the sovereign country of Venezuela, in order to kidnap the President of that country, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife, Cilia Flores. Both he and his wife were immediately brought to the United States, have been charged, and are now being held for trial. 

The former Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, has been given the title of ‘’Interim President’’. This is a mere formality, as Trump has made it clear that he ‘’plans to run Venezuela’’, and to ‘’extract the oil’’, of which Venezuela has such a great abundance. But then, Trump quickly changed his mind, and announced that he, Donald Trump, is now the ‘’Acting President of Venezuela’’.

Without doubt, Donald Trump is a man of action. Also completely impulsive. He acts upon any stray thought that crosses his mind. As he is now the President of the United States, he has considerable power. For that reason, those impulsive ‘’acts’’ can have most serious consequences. 

One of those impulsive acts, was the invasion of Venezuela, and subsequent abduction of President Maduro. The people of Venezuela are not about to ‘’take this lying down’’. Their President may or may not have been well loved. It matters not. The Americans had no right to invade their country and kidnap their President. They certainly had no right to set Trump up, as their ‘’Acting President’’, to ‘’run’’ their country, and ‘’extract’’ their oil. They are about to make this abundantly clear!

This is by no means the first time the American imperialists have attempted to invade another country, take over the existing government, and run it, to their satisfaction. The only difference is that the invasion of Venezuela is more blatant. Yet the outcome is sure to be the same.

Perhaps the most clear cut example, was the American invasion of Vietnam. It was more subtle than the Venezuelan invasion. It started in 1950, when American ‘’military advisers’’ were sent to Vietnam, as part of the ‘’Military Assistance Advisory Group’’, (MAAG). 

At that time, the French were at war with the democratic forces of Vietnam, referred to as the ’’Viet Minh’’. The official ‘’role’’ of those American advisers, was to ‘’provide logistical and technical support’’ to the French. 

As is well known, the French were defeated, by the Viet Minh, in 1955, and this resulted in the country being divided, along the seventeenth parallel, into a northern zone, or Democratic Republic of Vietnam, and a southern zone, or Republic of Vietnam. This certainly did not end the war, or American involvement. The role of the American ‘’advisers’’ merely changed to ‘’provide logistical and technical support’’ to the military forces of the South Vietnamese, referred to as the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, (ARVN). 

From a historical perspective, 1955 marked the beginning of the ‘’Vietnam War’’, which is to say the war between the ‘’North’’ and the ‘’South’’. In the South, the ‘’National Liberation Front for South Vietnam’’, or ‘’Viet Cong’’, came into existence. The American ‘’advisers’’ assisted the South Vietnamese army, the ARVN, in their war with the Viet Cong, as well as with troops from the North. 

As is well known, this American ‘’advice’’, to the ARVN, was not sufficient to crush the democratic forces of the Vietnamese. So in 1964, President Johnson began a full scale bombing campaign of the North. As well, he sent ground troops into the South, so called ‘’boots on the ground’’, in an attempt to ‘’pacify’’ the South. At one point, a half million American troops were stationed in South Vietnam. Even this massive display of military power, failed to crush the democratic forces. The Americans were defeated, with the last of the troops leaving South Vietnam, in 1973. This American defeat, in Vietnam, is officially referred to as a ‘’withdrawl’’. 

It may seem reasonable to assume that this ‘’involvement’’, within Vietnam, this attempt to subjugate another country, which lasted for over twenty years, would have taught the American imperialists a valuable lesson. It clearly did not. Or perhaps they have merely forgotten. Vietnam was not exceptional! It was typical! No other country is about to submit to American aggression! That includes Venezuela! 

Without doubt, now the democratic forces of Venezuela are organizing, preparing to oppose this American invasion, this attempt to ‘’take over’’ their country, to steal their oil, among other things. Not about to happen! The Americans are about to find themselves involved in ‘’another Vietnam’’!

As if that is not ‘’bad enough’’, Trump also plans to invade Greenland, which will result in a war with Denmark; to invade Columbia; to invade Panama, in order to ‘’take over’’ the Panama Canal; to invade Canada, in order to make Canada the ‘’Fifty First State’’; to go to war with Iran! War on numerous fronts! Madness!

Now even the American imperialists, the monopoly capitalists, the multi billionaires, those who are determined to establish an Oligarchy, are aware that they have made a ‘’serious mistake’’. They thought they could control Donald Trump. They cannot. He is a ‘’loose cannon’’, completely out of control. Now they have to find a way to remove him from office. That is where the Twenty Fifth Amendment to the Constitution, and in particular, Section 4, comes into play. As it is so important, I have chosen to copy it here, in its entirety:

‘’Section 4, Declaration by Vice President and Others:

‘’Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
‘’Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.’’

In more popular terms, this means that, if the Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet, which is to say eight Members, are convinced that the President is unable to perform his duties, then they can submit such a declaration to the Speaker of the House, and the President Pro Tempore of the Senate. The Vice President then becomes the Acting President. But then a similar response, by the President, in writing, to the effect that he is still alive and well, shall result in his resumption of the office of President. At that time, the Vice President, and the majority of the Cabinet, have four days to resubmit that same statement. At that point, both Houses of Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate, have twenty one days to decide if the President is able to ‘’discharge the power and duties of his office’’. It requires  ‘’two thirds of both Houses of Congress’’, in order to remove him from office.

As there are one hundred Senators, it requires sixty seven votes. As well, there are 435 Members of the House of Representatives, so it also requires the vote of 290 Members of the House, in order to remove the President from office. That is considered to be a very ‘’high bar’’, and with good reason. Both Houses of Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate, are controlled by the Republican Party, the Party of Donald Trump. Such a ‘’two thirds vote’’, by both ‘’Houses of Congress’’, in order to remove him from office, is not about to happen. At least, not at present.

On the other hand, the revolutionary motion, which is currently sweeping the country, may ‘’inspire’’ the vast majority to vote for the removal of Trump, from the office of Presidency. It depends upon the power of the common people, as expressed in the strength of the revolutionary motion.

The only reason I have gone into this detailed description, of Section 4 of the Twenty Fifth Amendment, is because it is being considered, very seriously, by the ruling class of monopoly capitalists. The mainstream press is certainly covering it. As well, the Leftist press is devoting a considerable amount of attention to the matter. Yet even the Leftist press is failing to point out the class interests, which are involved. Sadly, that is typical of the Leftist press. Leftist in name only!

As well, there are a great many common people, by whom I mean workers and family farmers, who still have great faith in the existing legal system. It will take something more than a ‘’stern lecture’’, to persuade them of the correctness of Scientific Socialism. It is to their credit, that they are convinced by their own personal experience, along with the proper arguments, concerning the revolutionary theories of Marx and Lenin.

For the moment, the ruling class of monopoly capitalists, the bourgeoisie, do not know ‘’which way to jump’’, to state it in popular terms. They are ‘’at their wits ends’’, so to speak. They succeeded in placing Trump back in the White House, at great expense, I might add, as a means of establishing the rule of the Oligarchy. Success! And now their ‘’Golden Boy’’ has turned against them! He is determined to act upon every stray impulse. In the process, he is sure to destroy the very state apparatus he is supposed to protect!

Yet this was foreseen, in the Communist Manifesto. As it states: ‘’Finally, in times when the class struggle nears the decisive hour, the process of dissolution going on within the ruling class, in fact within the whole range of old society, assumes such a violent, glaring character, that a small section of the ruling class cuts itself adrift, and joins the revolutionary class, the class that holds the future in its hands. Just as, therefore, at an earlier period, a section of the nobility went over to the bourgeoisie, so now a portion of the bourgeoisie goes over to the proletariat, and in particular, a portion of the bourgeois ideologists, who have raised themselves to the level of comprehending theoretically the historical movement as a whole.’’

The ruling class of monopoly capitalists, are currently in a ‘’process of dissolution’’. They are fighting among themselves, as well as with the ruling class of monopoly capitalists of other countries. Now we can expect a ‘’small section of the ruling class’’, to ‘’join the revolutionary class’’, the proletariat, the ‘’class that holds the future in its hands’’.

For our part, we must ‘’welcome them with open arms’’! Their class background must not be held against them! Bear in mind that both Marx and Lenin were middle class. Petty bourgeois. To be prejudiced against a fellow revolutionary, because of their class background, is to be prejudiced against Marx and Lenin!

On the contrary, their previous careers, as loyal and devoted servants of the monopoly capitalists, the bourgeoisie, will serve as valuable teaching aids. They will advise working people of the fact that such a service counted for nothing. The multi billionaires care only about themselves. There is absolutely no reward, for many years of faithful service. 

These middle class professionals can also provide a most valuable service, after the revolution, in rebuilding the country. They have the education and training, necessary to organize any and all large businesses. These are skills which working people, proletarians, simply do not have.

Revolution In Iran

Iran, officially known as the Islamic Republic of Iran, formerly known as Persia, is a country in West Asia. It has a population of over ninety million people, and is the sixth largest country in Asia. It is divided into five regions with thirty one provinces. The city of Tehran is the nation’s capital, largest city, and financial centre. Iran is currently an Islamic theocracy. Although certain elections are held, the ultimate authority is vested in the Supreme Leader.

The country is rich in natural resources, including that which is considered to be one of the largest deposits of oil, in the world.

Iran is home to one of the oldest, continuous major civilizations. It has an ancient and distinguished history, of which the people of Iran can be supremely proud. 

In the early twentieth century, the Persian Constitutional Revolution gave birth to the Pahlavi Dynasty of Reza Shah, beginning in 1925. Then from 1941, his son, Mohammed Reza Pahlavi was in power. The Iranian Revolution of 1979 overthrew the monarchy, and the Islamic Republic of Iran was established. The first Supreme Leader was Ruhollah Khomeini. 

It is significant that Iran has a sizeable industrial base, mainly involved in mining and manufacturing. The reason this is significant, is because that means it has a considerable working class, a proletariat. In fact, estimates place the number of workers at around forty percent of the population. 

Of course, there are still a considerable number of family farmers in Iran, referred to as peasants, although there are no firm estimates. As well, there is a sizeable middle class, technically referred to as the petty bourgeois, mainly shop keepers. They tend to be quite vocal, and receive a lot of attention, from the press. 

On December 28, 2025, the current Iranian Revolution began. At first, it was only the shop keepers in Tehran who took to the streets, protesting against raging inflation, so that the value of the Iranian currency, the rial, was negligible. Most common people could not afford even the most basic food items. 

The demonstrations soon spread to universities. Both faculty and students joined the protests. From there, the movement quickly expanded, to include demands to end the current regime. This is to say that the protest went from a strictly economic base, to a political base. 

Within a few days, the movement, now a full scale Revolution, spread to all parts of Iran. The women are playing a leading role, dancing in the streets, removing their head scarves, cutting their hair and even burning those same head scarves. All of which is strictly against the law!

The mainstream press is now quite cheerfully reporting that certain protesters are calling for the return of the son of the exiled Shah, Prince Reza Pahlavi. They would have us believe that there is a counter revolution going on in Iran, in that the people of Iran want to return to a state of monarchy. This is not likely.

Without a doubt, there are Iranians who ‘’pine for the good old days’’, in which they were ruled by a Shah, which is a monarch. Equally without doubt, those people are in a minority. The vast majority of people want to go forward, to a democracy, not backwards, to the rule of a monarch. 

In an attempt to contain the Revolution, the government of Iran cut off all internet access. This attempt was unsuccessful, as people found a way to get in touch with each other, bypassing the internet.

President Trump has responded to this Iranian Revolution, with a threat of once again going to war, possibly with the assistance of Israel. This happened quite recently, in that which is being referred to as the Twelve Day War.

The Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader, has issued his own statement. He is demanding that American troops leave the Middle East, and stop interfering in the internal affairs of Iran. He also accused Washington of deception. 

Whatever else the Ayatollah may be, he is not a fool! To paraphrase an old expression, ‘’You can always tell when Donald Trump is lying. His lips are moving’’!

As I write this, the Iranian Revolution is unfolding. It remains to be seen, if it will indeed result in the creation of a democratic republic, or if the exiled Shah will manage to return to power. Either way, that is the business of the people of Iran. 

For our part, we can best support the people of Iran, by placing pressure on our respective governments, to quit meddling in the internal affairs of the people of Iran.

As well, those of us who personally know people who live in Iran, are free to recommend the classic works of Marx and Lenin. These include The Communist Manifesto, by Marx and Engels, as well as State and Revolution, Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism, What Is To Be Done?, and Left Wing Communism, An Infantile Disorder, all by Lenin. It is very likely that they have been translated into Farsi, the official language of Iran, and may be available on the internet.

It is entirely possible that true Communist leaders have already emerged, within the country of Iran. Or possibly not. Either way, the fact of the matter is that, during a time of revolution, countless people, including those who were formerly apathetic, become politically active. This is especially true of the working class, the proletariat. Among the workers who have now become politically active, it is reasonable to assume that some of them will assume positions of responsibility. Leaders. 

To such people, I can only suggest that a careful reading of the following, written by Lenin, contained within his work, Left Wing Communism, An Infantile Disorder:

‘’The fundamental law of revolution, which has been confirmed by all revolutions, and especially by all three Russian revolutions in the twentieth century, is as follows: for a revolution to take place, it is not enough for the exploited and oppressed masses to realize the impossibility of living in the old way, and demand changes; for a revolution to take place, it is essential that the exploiters should not be able to live and rule in the old way. It is only when the ‘lower classes’ do not want to live in the old way, and the ‘upper classes’ cannot carry on in the old way, that the revolution can triumph. This truth can be expressed in other words: revolution is impossible without a nation wide crisis (affecting both the exploiters and the exploited). It follows that, for a revolution to take place, it is essential first, that a majority of the workers (or at least a majority of the class conscious, thinking, and politically active workers), should fully realize that revolution is necessary, and that they should be prepared to die for it; second, that the ruling classes should be going through a governmental crisis, which draws even the most backward masses into politics (symptomatic of any genuine revolution is a rapid, tenfold and even hundredfold increase in the size of the working and oppressed masses- hitherto apathetic- who are capable of waging the political struggle), weakens the government, and makes it possible for the revolutionaries to rapidly overthrow it.’’ (italics by Lenin)

I consider the preceding paragraph to be of supreme importance. I would love to see it in poster form, and placed on the walls of all advanced workers. As well as on the walls of all union halls. I would be the first to buy a copy.

No doubt, a proper understanding of that paragraph, will inspire people to read other select works of Marx and Lenin, previously mentioned. 

In State and Revolution, Lenin states that, ‘’A democratic republic is the best possible political shell for capitalism, and, therefore, once capital has gained control of this very best shell …it establishes its power so securely, so firmly, that no change, either of persons, of institutions, or of parties in the bourgeois-democratic republic, can shake it.’’ (italics by Lenin)

In that same work, Lenin went on to explain that, ‘’All the revolutions which have occurred up to now, have helped to perfect the state machine, whereas it must be smashed, broken.’’ (my italics)

We can only hope that the advanced workers of Iran, will seriously consider this advice of Lenin. A democratic republic is certainly far superior to a monarchy. Yet it remains a bourgeois dictatorship, under the rule of the monopoly capitalists, the bourgeoisie. 

Just as a democratic republic is far superior to a monarchy, so too, a Scientific Socialist Society, in the form of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, is far superior to a democratic republic. Marx described this quite clearly, in 1852, in a letter to Weydemeyer:

‘’And now as to myself, no credit is due to me for discovering the existence of classes in modern society, nor yet the struggle between them. Long before me, bourgeois historians had described the historical development of this class struggle, and bourgeois economists the economic anatomy of the classes. What I did that was new was to prove: 1) that the existence of classes is only bound up with particular historical phases in the development of production; 2) that the class struggle necessarily leads to the Dictatorship of the Proletariat; 3) that this Dictatorship itself only constitutes the transition to the abolition of all classes and to a classless society.’’ (italics by Lenin)

That is another paragraph I would love to see in poster form! I consider it to be of the utmost importance! 

May I further stress the fact that Marx stated, ‘’the class struggle necessarily lead to the Dictatorship of the Proletariat’’. I have deliberately chosen to place the word ‘’necessarily’’ in italics, in order to stress its importance. The class struggle, of necessity, leads to Scientific Socialism, in the form of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat!

To those currently taking part in the Iranian Revolution, may I suggest focusing on the ultimate goal of all revolutions, which is the Dictatorship of the Proletariat. It may help to think of the democratic republic as a mere stop gap measure. A step in the right direction, but merely a step. The monopoly capitalists remain in charge. They must be overthrown and crushed, by the working class, the proletariat.

I can only hope that the preceding was helpful, to the Iranian Revolutionaries.

Donald Trump and the Donroe Doctrine

On January 3, 2025, the United States invaded the sovereign country of Venezuela. The Prime Minister of that country, Nicolas Maduro, as well as his wife, Cillia Flores, were ‘’abducted’’, or more accurately, they were kidnapped, and taken to America. Both were then taken to court, where they ‘’faced a four count indictment’’. 

Two of these charges ‘’relate to drug trafficking conspiracies’’, while the other two ‘’relate to firearms offences’’. 

It is significant that the Trump administration did not notify Congress, ‘’in advance of the strikes’’, as it was thought that it would ‘’endanger the mission’’. They were afraid that a Member of Congress could ‘’leak it’’, to the press. 

On the contrary, before the invasion, in response to the legitimate concerns, of certain Members of Congress, they stated that they ‘’had no intention of sending troops into Venezuela’’. 

As a Member of Congress stated, ‘’It is not that they did not advise us of the plan to invade Venezuela, as is required by law! They simply lied about it’’! 

The ‘’law’’, to which this Member of Congress was referring, is nothing other than Article One of the Constitution. This Article gives Congress- and only Congress!- the right to ‘’levy taxes, regulate commerce, and declare war’’! 

The very fact that President Trump sent American troops into the sovereign country of Venezuela, is an act of war! Further, it is completely beyond the authority of the executive branch of government, led by the President.

Donald Trump is attempting to usurp the authority of the legislative branch of government, which is to say the Congress. He is ‘’wiping his feet’’ on the Constitution, completely disregarding it. More accurately, he is violating Constitutional law! Setting himself up as the new Monarch! Hail His Majesty, King Donald the First!

Perhaps someone should remind this simple soul, this absent minded American, this would be dictator, that Americans gave their former ruling class of monarchs, the British nobility, led by King George, their ‘’walking papers’’, many years ago. Donald Trump seems to have forgotten, that which every school age American is well aware. The United States is a republic, not a monarchy! Could it be that a little reminder is in order?

Sadly, the democratically elected Members of Congress, both of the House of Representatives and the Senate, have chosen to allow Trump to usurp their authority. These are the same people who expect all Americans to show them the proper respect. After they have abdicated their authority to that would be Monarch! Not about to happen! Respect is earned, not granted!

Donald Trump has justified this invasion, by invoking that which he refers to as the ‘’Donroe Doctrine’’. He no doubt considers this to be a clever ‘’play on words’’, based on the ‘’Monroe Doctrine’’, of the Nineteenth Century. This calls for a little explanation.

In 1823, President James Monroe, in an annual State of the Union Address to Congress, made it clear that the foreign policy of the United States, was to oppose any ‘’European colonialism’’, in the Western Hemisphere. Any such interference was to be considered to be a ‘’hostile act against the United States’’. In turn, the United States would ‘’recognize and not interfere with existing European colonies, nor meddle in the internal affairs of European countries’’. 

The Donroe Doctrine is similar, in that any European interference in the Western Hemisphere is simply not allowed. That Hemisphere is strictly under the influence of the United States. Any and all European powers must ‘’keep their distance’’. In turn, there is no ‘’in turn’’! Trump is determined to meddle in the internal affairs of all other countries, European or non European, as he sees fit!

With regards to the charges against President Maduro of Venezuela, and his wife, they recently appeared in court and pleaded ‘’Not Guilty’’, to all charges. A Leftist journalist then posted a video, on the internet, titled, ‘’Maduro Flips the Script On Trump At First Court Appearance’’.

In this video, the journalist documents the fact that other Heads of State have previously been ‘’apprehended’’, taken to America, and charged with various ‘’drug related offensives’’. The first was Manuel Noriega, the Head of State of Panama. He too, was ‘’apprehended’’ in 1989, taken to America, given the formality of a fair trial, convicted and sentenced to forty years in prison.

The second was the President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernandez. In 2022, he was arrested, charged, convicted and sentenced to forty five years in prison, for ‘’his role in a drug trafficking operation that moved hundreds of tonnes of cocaine into the United States’’. Strangely enough, he was recently pardoned by President Trump.  

The narrator then proceeded to point out the ‘’irony’’’ that President Maduro will very likely use the defence of ‘’Presidential Immunity’’, as a way to avoid criminal prosecution. That is the very defence that Trump used, successfully, in previous court appearances!

Now the Trump administration, or at least the Department of Justice, DOJ, is going to have to argue against giving that same Head of State Immunity, to President Maduro! If nothing else, this will help to expose the hypocrisy of Trump!

Now that Trump has invaded Venezuela, and kidnapped the President, he placed the Vice President, Delcy Rodriguez, as ‘’Interim President of Venezuela’’. This is strictly a formality, as Trump also made it clear that, as he stated, he ‘’plans to run Venezuela’’, in order to ‘’allow American businesses to extract Venezuelan oil’’. As Venezuela has possibly the largest oil reserves in the world, that explains the invasion of the country!

Trump also wants to take undisputed control of the Arctic. For that reason, he recently announced that he plans to seize control of Greenland, within the ‘’next two months’’. This despite the fact that Greenland is part of Denmark, a Member Country of NATO! (NATO stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization.)

Numerous countries have expressed solidarity with Denmark, in opposition to the plan of Trump, to take over Greenland. Many of these countries are also members of NATO. An invasion of Greenland could well result in war between the various countries of NATO!

Another video, which I recommend, is that given by the Meidas Touch host, Ben Meiselas, titled, ‘’Furious World Leaders Give Final Warning To Trump’’. In this video, Meiselas gives a deeply passionate speech, in opposition to the actions of the Trump administration. He documents the fact that world leaders are condemning the actions of President Trump, such as the invasion of Venezuela, and the subsequent kidnapping of President Maduro and his wife. As well, they are also condemning the plans of Trump, to ‘’conquer all of the Western Hemisphere’’, to ‘’invade Greenland’’, to ‘’invade Columbia’’, to ‘’invade Mexico’’, to ‘’annex Canada as the fifty first state’’. 

Perhaps the most striking statement, was that of the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, in that she stated: ‘’Article 2, Paragraph 4, of the Charter of the United Nations, which states verbatim, ‘The members of the Organization, and their international relations, shall refrain from the threat or use of force, against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the purpose of the United Nations’’’. 

It is to the credit of Meidas Touch, that this is immediately followed by a video titled, ‘’Trump Loses It As Emergency UN Meeting Condemns Him’’. The title of the video is rather self explanatory. It includes a statement by the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guiterrez, at the United Nations Security Council meeting, concerning the invasion of Venezuela: 

‘’I remain deeply concerned that rules of international law have not been respected with regard to the three January military action. The Charter enshrines the prohibition of the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state. The maintenance of international peace and security depends upon the continued commitment of all member states to adhere to all provisions of the Charter.

‘’Mr. President, Venezuela has experienced decades of internal instability and social and economic turmoil. Democracy has been undermined. Millions of its people have fled the country. The situation is critical, but it is still possible to prevent a wider and more destructive conflagration. I call on all those involved to engage in an inclusive democratic dialogue, in which all sectors of society can determine their future. This entails the full respect of human rights, the rule of law, and the sovereign will of the Venezuelan people. I also urge Venezuela’s neighbours and the international community more broadly, to act in the spirit of solidarity and adherence to the principles, laws and rules erected to promote peaceful coexistence. I welcome and am ready to support all efforts aimed at assisting Venezuelans in finding a peaceful way forward. ..In situations as confused and complex, as those we now face, it is important to stick to principles, respect for the UN Charter, and all other applicable legal frameworks to safeguard peace and security. Respect for the principle of sovereignty, political independence and territorial integrity. The prohibition of the threat or the use of force. The power of the law must prevail. International law contains tools to address issues, such as the illicit trafficking of narcotics, disputes about resources and human rights concerns. This is the route we need to take’’.

The Secretary General of the United Nations certainly made a fine speech. Venezuela is indeed a ‘’sovereign country’’, and as such, should be respected. As well, the United Nations Charter should also be respected. Yet that speech is completely pointless, as the United States is a permanent member of the Security Council. As such, they have the right to overrule any resolution the United Nations may choose to adopt. And rest assured, they are certain to overrule any resolution which condemns their invasion of Venezuela.

It should be noted that Trump has other plans, aside from those which have just been documented. These include invading Panama, in order to take over the Panama Canal. Another war with Iran, if only to ‘’put them in their place’’. And then there are countries, such as Columbia, which are responsible for supplying America with vast quantities of narcotics. So many countries to invade!

There is a popular expression, which comes to mind: ‘’Be careful what you wish for, as you may get just that’’!

The reason I say this, is because the American ruling class of monopoly capitalists, the bourgeoisie, were determined to abolish the democratic republic, and set up the rule of an Oligarchy, led by Donald Trump. They have succeeded, got exactly what they wanted, and are now ‘’kicking themselves’’! Donald Trump is now a ‘’loose cannon’’, completely out of control, and those same monopoly capitalists are ‘’at their wits end’’, with no idea of what to do.

As soon as the people of Venezuela get over the initial shock of the invasion, they will no doubt organize an armed resistance. Equally without doubt, Trump will respond by sending ever more troops to the country, in order to ‘’restore law and order’’, or some such foolishness.

As well, we can expect Denmark to defend that which is rightfully theirs, which is to say Greenland. We can also expect neighbouring countries to join Denmark, in this anticipated war with America. That will be the end of NATO!

Lest we forget, there are numerous other countries that Trump plans to invade, in pursuit of his Donroe Doctrine. This will result in fighting a war on numerous fronts! Such a war cannot be won! What is more, the American Oligarchy is well aware of this. They got exactly what they ‘’wished for’’! 

The fable of the Genie who summoned a Demon from the ‘’nether regions’’ comes to mind. It is one thing to summon a Demon, and something else entirely to control that Demon! 

We can think of the American Oligarchy as the Genie, and Trump as the Demon they have summoned, or perhaps created. He is now running amok, determined to inflict as much damage as possible. What is more, he is doing a most impressive job!

Now the American Oligarchy is faced with a little problem. How to ‘’send the Demon back to the nether regions’’? That is the question. The best answers these simple souls can come up with, is the same old tried and true procedures of yesteryear. They have not worked before, so try it again. This includes that of impeachment, twice unsuccessful. Then there is the Twenty Fifth Amendment, a long shot at best.

In fact, their ‘’best bet’’ is the Twelfth Amendment, which lays out the procedure to be followed for all federal elections. As that procedure was not followed, in the 2024 federal election, it stands to reason that both Trump and Pence have been fraudulently elected. A simple Supreme Court challenge, on that grounds, would almost certainly result in their removal from office. As I have gone into this in previous articles, there is no need to repeat it here.

The current chaos and confusion, within Washington, concerning the implications of the Epstein Files, the recent invasion of Venezuela, as well as the plans of Trump to invade Greenland, Columbia, Iran and Panama, among other things, has thrown the ruling class of bourgeoisie into disarray. 

Yet this was foreseen, in the Communist Manifesto. As it states: ‘’Finally, in times when the class struggle nears the decisive hour, the process of dissolution going on within the ruling class, in fact within the whole range of old society, assumes such a violent, glaring character, that a small section of the ruling class cuts itself adrift, and joins the revolutionary class, the class that holds the future in its hands. Just as, therefore, at an earlier period, a section of the nobility went over to the bourgeoisie, so now a portion of the bourgeoisie goes over to the proletariat, and in particular, a portion of the bourgeois ideologists, who have raised themselves to the level of comprehending theoretically the historical movement as a whole.’’

I can only hope that this current crisis in capitalism, will serve to motivate the bourgeois ideologists, those who have managed to ‘’raise themselves to the level of comprehending theoretically the historical movement as a whole’’. Feel free to join the ‘’revolutionary class, the class that holds the future in its hands’’. That class is the working class, the proletariat.

To such bourgeois ideologists, I can only say: Welcome, my Brothers and Sisters, my Comrades!

Importance of Purging the Communist Party

The title of this article may appear to be rather strange, as we do not even have a Communist Party. For that reason, this may seem to be ‘’putting the cart before the horse’’. Yet due to the breadth and depth of the revolutionary movement, it is very likely that a true Communist Party will soon take shape. As soon as that happens, the capitalists will make every effort to infiltrate the Party, as was the case of all previous Communist Parties. What is more, all too often, they succeeded in causing serious damage. For that reason, we had best be prepared.

Our current situation is similar to that which existed in Europe, in 1918. At that time, as Lenin phrased it, ‘’Over four years of a most exhausting and reactionary war have done their work. One can feel the impending proletarian revolution in Europe- in Austria, Italy, Germany, France and even in Britain’’.

In my opinion, we can now ‘’feel the impending proletarian revolution’’, not only in Europe, but also in other parts of the world, most notably in America. It is also a fact that, just as was the case of Europe in 1918, we do not have a true Communist Party. Bear in mind that a true Communist Party, openly calls for the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, the ‘’touchstone of a true Communist’’, according to Lenin.

As this subject is so important, it is necessary to go into it, in more detail. Also, for the benefit of those who are just now becoming politically active, I should mention that the Marxists at that time, led by Lenin, referred to themselves as Social Democrats, later changed their name to Bolsheviks, and still later to Communists.

The fact of the matter is that we have numerous revisionist Communist Parties, those which claim to be followers of Marx and Lenin, while maintaining that the revolutionary theories of those great revolutionaries, must be revised! Sometimes they state this openly, while more often, they tend to avoid the subject. This is their idea of being clever. 

This revisionist tendency is ‘’nothing new’’. As Lenin explained, quite clearly, in What Is To Be Done?, written in 1902, ‘’The content of this new tendency did not have to grow and develop, it was transferred bodily from bourgeois literature to socialist literature’’.

That is true to this day. The revolutionary theories of Marx and Lenin are ‘’taught’’ only in Universities, and then only with a view to distorting them. Further, as it is primarily the children of the bourgeois who attend University, this bourgeois distortion of those revolutionary theories is still embraced by the children of the bourgeois, including those who are more ‘’Progressive’’, or ‘’Liberal’’, or ‘’Leftist’’, to use the bourgeois terminology. Some of them even consider themselves to be Socialists.

This begs the question: What is this ‘’new tendency’’, to which Lenin was referring? The answer: ‘’The demand for a definite change from revolutionary Social-Democracy (Communism) to bourgeois social-reformism, was accompanied by a no less definite turn towards bourgeois criticism of all the fundamental ideas of Marxism…The possibility of putting socialism on a scientific basis, and of proving that it is necessary and inevitable, from the point of view of the materialist conception of history, was denied, as also were the facts of growing impoverishment and proletarianization, and the intensification of capitalist contradictions. The very conception, ‘ultimate aim’, was declared to be unsound, and the idea of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat was absolutely rejected. It was denied that there is any difference in principle between liberalism and socialism. The theory of the class struggle was rejected, on the grounds that it could not be applied to a strictly democratic society, governed according to the will of the majority, etc.’’ (italics by Lenin)

There are those who may object, apparently quite reasonably, that this ‘’infatuation with theory’’, is merely a matter of petty squabbling, between competing factions of intellectuals. For that reason, it is of no concern to working people!

While such an objection may sound quite reasonable, it is deeply flawed. The fact of the matter is that the social chauvinists, those who are socialists in words, chauvinists in deeds, are determined to establish themselves as leaders of the working class, and at the time of the revolution, seize control of the existing state apparatus, and set themselves up, as the new rulers!

The problem is that the working class, the proletariat, is not aware of itself as a class! The conditions of life, of the working class, do not lead to that awareness. For that reason, it is only natural for working people to assume that the capitalists can be overthrown, at the time of the revolution, and then crushed, under the existing state apparatus. 

Yet experience has shown that nothing can be farther from the truth! The lessons learned from previous revolutionary experience, are referred to as ‘’theory’’. Better we learn from previous experience, rather than repeat those mistakes! That is the reason theory is so important!

As for those who may think that I am over stating the case, consider the opinion of Lenin: ‘’Without a revolutionary theory, there can be no revolutionary movement. …The importance of theory for (our Party) is still greater for three reasons…The first is that our Party is only in the process of formation, its features are but just becoming outlined, and it has not yet completely settled its accounts with other tendencies in the revolutionary thought, which threaten to divert the movement from the proper path’’.

The ‘’proper path’’, to which Lenin referred, is the overthrow of the ruling class of monopoly capitalists, the multi billionaires, technically referred to as the bourgeoisie, the smashing of the existing state apparatus, and the establishment of a new state apparatus, in order to crush the ‘’desperate and determined resistance of the bourgeoisie’’, as they make every effort to return to power. This new state apparatus is referred to as the Dictatorship of the Proletariat.

It is safe to say that in our case, the ‘’Party’’ is not even in the process of formation, but soon will be. At that time, it will have to ‘’settle accounts’’ with other tendencies, especially those which are determined to ‘’divert the movement from the proper path’’. 

Perhaps one such ‘’tendency’’ is that of the Democratic Socialists of America, the DSA. They are certainly the most obvious, and refer to themselves as Socialists. Not that they are fighting for Socialism. They are fighting for Democracy and Reforms. The DSA wants to ‘’patch up’’ capitalism. That is their idea of Socialism!

It is only true Communists, Scientific Socialists, those who follow the revolutionary theories of Marx and Lenin, who are the true Socialists. Both of them examined capitalism, from a scientific viewpoint. This stands in stark contrast to the Utopian Socialists, those who think that ‘’Socialism is merely a good idea’’.

Now the working people have to be made aware of this. 

Lenin went on to state: ‘’We have observed …. a revival of non-Social-Democratic (Communist) revolutionary tendencies. Under such circumstances, what at first sight appears to be an ‘unimportant’ mistake, may give rise to most deplorable consequences, and only the short sighted would consider factional disputes and strict distinction of shades to be inopportune and superfluous. The fate of Russian Social Democracy (Communism) for many, many years to come, may be determined by the strengthening of one or the other ‘shade’.’’

As our Communist Party takes shape, we are well advised to pay strict attention to any and all non-Communist tendencies, no matter how minor they may appear!

Lenin: ‘’The second reason is that the Social Democratic (Communist) movement is essentially an international movement. This does not merely mean that we must combat national chauvinism. It also means that a movement that is starting in a young country, can be successful only on the condition that it assimilates the experience of other countries. In order to assimilate this experience, it is not sufficient merely to be acquainted with it, or merely to transcribe the latest resolutions. A critical attitude is required towards this experience, and ability to subject it to independent tests. Only those who realize how much the modern labour movement has grown in strength, will understand what a reserve of theoretical forces and political (as well as revolutionary) experience is required to fulfill this task’’. 

Our current American Revolution closely resembles the Great Russian October Soviet Socialist Revolution. For that reason, we can learn a great deal from that Revolution. 

Lenin: ‘’The third reason is that the national tasks of Russian Social Democracy (Communism) are such as have never confronted any other Socialist  Party in the world. …We merely wish to state that the role of vanguard can be fulfilled only by a Party that is guided by an advanced theory’’. (italics by Lenin)

The Communist Party has a duty to provide the working class people with the proper leadership. That duty can be properly fulfilled, only when that Party is ‘’guided by an advanced theory’’. 

Lenin then proceeded to quote Engels, concerning the significance of theory in the Communist movement: ‘’Engels recognizes not two forms of the great struggle Social Democracy (Communism) is conducting, (political and economic), as is the fashion among us, but three, adding to the first two the theoretical struggle.’’ (italics by Lenin)

This was followed by a rather lengthy passage from the Introduction by Engels, to The Peasant War in Germany. Bear in mind that, at that time, the German Communist Party was among the finest, in the world. But only because the Party leaders advocated the revolutionary theories of Marx and Engels. 

Yet several years later, under extreme pressure, due to the outbreak of the First World War, most of those previously fine Communists ‘’turned their coats’’. They called for the ‘’Defence of the Fatherland!’’ The defence of the bourgeoisie!

It is note worthy that Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxembourg, were the notable exceptions. They adhered to principle, and paid for it, with their lives. Both were murdered. Martyrs to Communism.

The German common people, both workers and farmers, were thus deprived of their leaders, and of course, reaction set in. 

In other parts of the world, a similar situation played out. In countries with true Communist Parties, those leaders also called for ‘’Defence of the Fatherland’’. Class traitors!

Then there were countries with no Communist Party, and no Communist leaders. That pretty well describes our current situation. 

Lenin had a few words to say, concerning our current predicament: ‘’Europe’s greatest misfortune and danger is that it has no revolutionary party. It has parties of traitors…But it has no revolutionary party. Of course, a mighty, popular revolutionary movement may rectify this deficiency, but it is nevertheless a serious misfortune and a grave danger. That is why we must do our best to expose renegades like Kautksy, thereby supporting the revolutionary groups of genuine international workers, who are to be found in all countries. The proletariat will very soon turn away from the traitors and renegades and follow these groups, drawing and training leaders from their midst. No wonder the bourgeoisie of all countries are howling about ‘world Bolshevism’ (Communism). World Bolshevism (Communism) will conquer world bourgeoisie’’. (italics by Lenin)

Without doubt, we are currently experiencing a ‘’mighty, popular revolutionary movement’’, which ‘’may rectify this deficiency’’. Now it is up to us, Scientific Socialists, Communists, to make sure that happens. The best way to do that, is by ‘’exposing’’ the renegades to Marxism, those who claim to be Communists, but are in fact revisionists. In this way, we can ‘’support the revolutionary groups of genuine internationalist workers’’. 

As the revolution unfolds, we can fully expect the vast majority of workers to gravitate towards those who merely claim to be Socialists, or even Communists. It is the duty of true Communists, to expose those who are revisionists, or even mere reformers. In this way, those same newly awakened workers will ‘’turn away from the traitors and renegades’’, and follow the ‘’revolutionary groups of internationalist workers’’. In turn, leaders will be ‘’drawn and trained from their midst’’. 

After that rather lengthy introduction, we can now return to the subject of the title of this article. Assuming that a true Communist Party is about to be created, as I am sure is the case, the importance of periodic purges must be stressed. There is no other way of ensuring the purity of the Party!

To phrase this in popular terms, many years ago, a small time thief became famous, when he answered a simple question: Why do you rob banks? Answer: ‘’Because that is where the money is’’. 

At the time of the Revolution, the existing state apparatus will be smashed, and the current ruling class of multi billionaires, the bourgeoisie, will be crushed, under the Dictatorship of the Proletariat. All political power will be in the hands of the Communist Party. So where will the capitalists go? Into the Party, of course, as that is where the power is! Hence the need for purges!

By the same token, purges which do not take place, can lead to deplorable consequences. One such example occurred in early October of 1917. At that time, Kerensky, the leader of the Russian Provisional Government, was determined to surrender the capital of Petrograd, to the Germans, in order to quell the Revolution.

For that reason, Lenin was determined to immediately mount the Insurrection, to overthrow the Provisional Government, and establish the Dictatorship of the Proletariat. The majority of the Central Committee agreed to this, and plans were prepared, in secret. 

Yet two Members, of that Central Committee, Zinoviev and Kamenev, were opposed to this. So they made public those plans! They did their best to sabotage the Insurrection! 

In response to this act of treachery, Lenin wanted them removed, purged, from the Party. The Central Committee refused. They remained, not only within the Party, but also as Members of the Central Committee. A huge mistake! They continued with their anti Party activities, until Stalin had them shot, years later.

A second example is one involving the Chinese Communist Party, during the time they were truly Communist. This calls for a little explanation.

In a previous article, I conducted a criticism of Mao. A great revolutionary, but one who made some serious mistakes. One of those mistakes was that the Cultural Revolution was largely restricted to Culture. It merely touched upon science. As a result of this, the Chinese capitalists merely hid in various fields of science, biding their time. After the death of Mao, they were able to return to power.  

At the time I wrote that article, I deliberately refrained from a second point, as I did not have all of the details, which are very important. However, it is even more important to stress the importance of periodically purging the Party.

A second mistake of Mao, was that of ‘’patiently struggling’’ with certain high ranking members of the Party. These were people who were determined to restore capitalism. Such people do not respond to struggle! They should have been purged! They were not!

At the time of the death of Mao, the Central Committee consisted of seven Members. Three of them were dedicated capitalists. A minority. Yet they got together and mounted a coup. The four Member majority was arrested, probably by the military, and the capitalists returned to power. 

This is to stress the fact that a periodic purge of the Communist Party is absolutely essential! It was the absence of such purges which contributed to the collapse of both the Soviet Union and Communist China. These mistakes we must not repeat!
