It has recently come to my attention that a Petition has been posted, on the internet, calling for the deportation of Melania Trump, her son Barron, and her parents.
Although this Petition may have been posted as ‘’something of a joke’’, a great many Americans are taking this quite seriously. It has since reportedly ‘’gone viral’’, garnering 7,000 signatures. For that reason, it deserves our attention. The following is the Petition:
‘’Since Trump wants to deport naturalized citizens, I believe it is only fair that Melania and her parents are on the first boat out. In addition, Melania’s anchor baby, Barron, should be forced to leave as well, because we know that his mother’s mother was born in a different country. This is part of the criteria that Trump is putting into place. Your mother’s mother has to have been born in the United States, and we know Melania’s mother was born elsewhere. If it’s good for one, it’s good for all! There should be no exceptions! On the first boat or flight out!’’
No doubt, this Petition was posted in response to the widespread opposition, to the policy of the Trump administration, of arresting and deporting countless people whom it considers to be ‘’illegal immigrants’’. This includes those who were born within the United States, to parents who are in the country illegally. Such individuals are American citizens, by birth! As per the Constitution!
Not that such little details concern Donald Trump! He is of the opinion that, if the mother was in the country illegally, or even on a temporary Visa, then the birthright citizenship is invalid. For that reason, both mother and child are to be deported!
Of course, this policy does not apply to his immediate family! His wife Melania, the First Lady of the United States, FLOTUS, is an immigrant! She was born in Slovenia in 1970, and then moved to New York in 1996, to pursue a modelling career. She then received a ‘’Green Card’’ in 2001, based upon an EB1 application. In 2006, one year after marrying Donald Trump, she became an American citizen. After that, she sponsored her parents for a Green Card, followed by their citizenship in 2018.
The manner in which Melania procured a Green Card, has provided the enemies of Trump, with a certain amount of ammunition. They have wasted no time in attacking her.
In particular, the EB1 Visa, otherwise known as the ‘’Einstein Visa’’, is ‘’typically reserved for individuals with extraordinary ability’’, especially in the ‘’fields of education, business, athletics, science, art, math or physics’’. Critics have pointed out that ‘’nude modelling’’ is not listed as one of those ‘’extraordinary abilities’’!
During a rather heated meeting, in the House of Representatives, Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett had a few harsh words for Melania. As she phrased it, rather crudely, in reference to the manner in which Melania procured her EB1 Visa, ‘’The math ain’t mathing here’’.
May I suggest that falsifying an application for an EB1 Visa may be naughty, but that does not make it a matter of a Congressional investigation. There are countless other ways to document the hypocrisy of the Republicans.
As well, the fact is that after Melania became an American citizen, she earned the legal right to sponsor her parents. Now Trump is referring to this as ‘’chain migration’’, and he is determined to ‘’put a stop to this’’.
Those who posted this Petition, may have done so with the best of intentions. That in no way changes the fact that it is serving as a diversion, a distraction, of the revolutionary movement, of the working class. The proletariat must become focused, on their class enemies, the monopoly capitalists, the multi billionaires, the bourgeoisie. That includes Donald Trump and the other members of that class. As well, it may include certain members of his immediate family. It does not include Melania and her son, and certainly not her parents.
For that reason, it is our duty to protect Melania, and her immediate family. It is a matter of principle. All calls for those people to be deported, must be condemned.
To quote an old proverb, ‘’If you want to kill a snake, you cut off his head’’. Or as Mao stated, during the Great Chinese Proletarian Cultural Revolution, ‘’Bombard the Bourgeois Headquarters’’.
