A Leftist journalist just posted a video, in which he maintains that Trump just experienced the ‘’worst week of his second term as President’’. In my opinion, that is an under statement. I think that Trump has just experienced the worst week of his life! Even during his first term, his legal advisers were telling him that ‘’executive privilege’’ is not absolute. And now a federal judge has just made an official ruling, to that effect!
As President, any and all official acts he performs, as the ‘’Head of State,’’ are covered by ‘’executive privilege’’, as laid out in the Constitution. While this privilege is not absolute, it does give the President considerable power.
On the other hand, any and all unofficial acts, such as using the office of the presidency for personal enrichment, which is to say ‘’lining his pockets’’, or for attacking perceived enemies -and Trump is ‘’making a career’’ of this!- is not covered by executive privilege.
The situation is rather confusing, as Trump is facing legal battles, in several areas. Perhaps we can think of it as ‘’fighting a war on two fronts’’, except that there are more than two fronts involved!
Arguably, the most serious matter, is that of the House of Representatives, in that they are determined to impeach him, once again. Another trial by the Senate, but this time, with a far better chance of gaining a conviction and subsequent removal from office. After all, the charges are far more serious, the evidence is beyond dispute, and the Senators are now much more ‘’sweetly reasonable’’, if only because of the Revolution, that is currently sweeping the country. Then too, the fact that Trump is calling for the murder of various Senators and Members of Congress, does not endear him to them!
The seven articles of impeachment are as follows:
- Obstruction of Justice
- Usurping the Power of Congress Over Spending
- Abusing Trade Powers and War Powers
- Violation of First Amendment Rights
- Creating Unlawful Offices Within the Government
- Bribery and Corruption
- Systematic Effort To Destroy Democratic Institutions
As well, Congressman Al Green has filed a separate motion of impeachment, alleging that Trump has been ‘’abusing the presidential war powers’’. That motion has been ‘’shelved’’, at least for the moment.
As well, Trump may be losing sleep over the fact that a judge, in the state of New York, is threatening to seize all of his property, including his precious Towers, unless he pays the money he allegedly owes. That amounts to half a billion dollars, which Trump clearly does not have!
Then there is the fact that a federal judge just ordered an ‘’expedited release’’ of the Epstein files. This just means that the Files must be released sooner, rather than later, although if Trump has his way, those files will never be released.
Perhaps the most serious matter, is the fact that the American military has conducted ‘’air strikes’’ against fishing boats, in the Caribbean, apparently off the coast of Venezuela. The reason given, for these attacks? Because they were ‘’running drugs to America’’.
It is at best doubtful that those boats were ‘’running drugs’’, and even if they were, that does not give anyone the right to attack them, on the high seas. Yet to date, it is reported that over eighty people have been killed, in numerous attacks. In the latest incident, after one airstrike destroyed a boat, two survivors were seen in the water, clinging to the wreckage. So a second airstrike was ordered, in order to ‘’blow them out of the water’’. It succeeded. There can be no doubt that this was an act of cold blooded murder! Possibly a war crime! For which Trump may be held personally responsible! We can only hope!
As the Commander In Chief of the American military, Trump is responsible for the actions of all American military personnel. As the crime is so serious, there is an international demand for accountability. This should at least be ‘’cause for concern’’, for Trump. If it is not, it soon will be.
This brings us to Special Prosecutor Jack Smith. It is safe to say that Trump has a particular hatred for that boy! With good reason, I might add. For many months, Jack Smith has been busy gathering evidence against Trump, and his flunkies. He recently presented that evidence to a federal judge. From all accounts, the judge was most impressed. As were the lawyers representing Trump! Possibly the one person who was most impressed, was Donald Trump. In fact, he was furious.
This brings me to a video, posted on the internet, which documents this, reasonably well. It is titled, ‘’Trump Screams As Jack Smith Hands Shock Evidence To Judge’’. I have decided to transcribe the key parts:
The video starts by pointing out that there is a, ‘’Long standing Justice Department policy, which says that sitting Presidents cannot be criminally prosecuted.’’
It should be noted, that there is a big difference between ‘’policy’’, and Constitutional law. A federal judge just made that abundantly clear! For possibly the first time in history, a sitting President- Donald Trump- may be ‘’criminally prosecuted’’!
Now to the video:
Narrator: ‘’Special Council Jack Smith just walked into that courtroom, carrying the one thing Donald Trump feared most. A secretly recorded conversation, where Trump himself detailed his crimes, in his own voice. …Trump literally screamed and raged, as the recording played, his own words describing exactly how he planned to overturn the election (the 2020 Presidential election), pressure state officials, and obstruct justice. His lawyers sat there stunned… there was no defending this. Their client has essentially confessed on tape, and now they had to admit, in open court, that Trump had engaged in coordinated, unlawful efforts to destroy democracy. …Trump himself, went from confident to panic, to screaming at his lawyers to do something, anything, to stop the tape from playing, but there was nothing they could do. The evidence was right there, in Trump’s own voice, admitting to everything he had been denying for years. …It is Trump himself, recorded without his knowledge, laying out the entire criminal conspiracy…Trump pointed at Jack Smith and screamed, ‘This is a set up, you recorded me illegally, this is entrapment’. …Trump kept screaming, calling Smith a criminal, the judge corrupt, the whole system rigged against him. …The shift from denial to damage control was visible …they (Trump’s lawyers) went from confidently claiming Trump’s innocence, to desperately trying to minimize the damage from the recording. …He does not just hint at illegal activities. He explicitly describes them. Names, co-conspirators, and laughs about how they are going to get away with it. The most damning part is where Trump says, ‘I don’t care what the real vote count was, we are saying I won, and that’s that’. It’s a confession to attempting to overthrow American democracy. The supporting evidence Jack Smith presented, alongside the recording, presents an air tight case…Trump’s lawyers are essentially pleading guilty, on Trump’s behalf, while trying to minimize the sentence…The recording came from a legally authorized surveillance operation…Co-conspirators …are now rushing to make deals…triggered a cascade of cooperation…’’
This is an absolute nightmare scenario, for Trump. As is well known, there is no ‘’honour among thieves’’. Those who were allegedly involved in his scheme to overturn the 2020 Presidential election, are about to be charged for those crimes, and they know it.
Now that the courts have ruled that a sitting President -Donald Trump- can be charged with crimes, the ‘’flood gates have been opened’’. There are reports that a former aide of Trump, has just been charged in the ‘’documents case’’. That is a rather polite reference to the numerous boxes of top secret documents, which Trump allegedly took to Mar a Lago.
It is very likely that this aide, as well as those who were involved in allegedly ‘’plotting to overthrow American democracy’’, are now ‘’knocking on the door’’ of the prosecuting attorney, anxious to ‘’rat out’’ their former boss, Donald Trump, as well as others, in return for a more lenient sentence.
Of course, as Trump has been a ‘’busy boy’’, over the years, doing as he pleases -his thirty four felony convictions are proof of that!- there are numerous other court cases, still pending. The difference now is that, due to the federal court ruling, it is ‘’open season’’ on Donald Trump!
All of this is of the utmost importance, not because of the possible impeachment and subsequent removal from office of President Trump, but because of the fact that the working class, the proletariat, is focused on this matter! We can- and must!- use this to raise the level of awareness of the working class!
We must make them aware that this is a class conflict! A conflict between the ruling class of multi billionaires, the bourgeoisie, and the working class, the proletariat. Donald Trump merely represents the class of multi billionaires! Removing him from office will not change the fact that the capitalist class of bourgeoisie are still in charge! It is that class, which has to be overthrown and crushed! Under the Dictatorship of the Proletariat!
This calls for a little explanation.
Our current situation closely resembles the situation in Russia, immediately before the Great October Soviet Socialist Revolution, of 1917. At that time, in Russia, as today in North America, the ‘’Left’’ was divided. Many of those who claimed to be Socialists, even Marxists, were in fact merely ‘’Economists’’, to use the expression of Lenin. He covered this supremely well in his article, What Is To Be Done?
Lenin pointed out that the ‘’mass movement’’, of the ‘’common people’’, the workers and family farmers- peasants- was separate from the ‘’movement’’ of the ‘’educated youth of Russia’’, those who were ‘’universally absorbed in the theories of Marxism’’.
Allow me to stress the fact that the movement for Scientific Socialism, following the theories of Marx and Lenin, and the mass movement, of the common people, especially the working class, the proletariat, develop separately! These two movements must be merged! It is the duty of Scientific Socialists, Communists, to bring about this merger!
This is to say that the working class must become class conscious! They, or at least the most advanced workers, must become aware of themselves as a class, with their own class interests! The most advanced workers must be raised to the level of Scientific Socialists! Bear in mind that the most advanced workers lead, as the less advanced workers pay strict attention to that which they say.
Yet in pre-revolutionary Russia, as in America today, only the distortion of the revolutionary theories of Marx was taught, in Universities. Also as in America today, all too many of the ‘’educated youth’’, embraced this distortion, this revision, of the theories of Marx. The only ‘’difference’’ now, is that the revolutionary theories of Lenin, which apply to monopoly capitalism, imperialism, are also being revised, in Universities.
Further, just as in pre-Revolutionary Russia, all too many of the ‘’educated youth’’ of America are embracing this revisionist belief, presenting the struggle for ‘’democracy and reforms’’, as the struggle for Socialism! They refer to this as ‘’Democratic Socialism’’!
Perhaps the most clear cut example of this, is contained in the web site of the Democratic Socialists of America. Under ‘’What We Do’’, they state that they ‘’fight for reforms’’. That is their idea of Socialism! And as they have been in existence for over forty years, what have they accomplished? Next to nothing! Countless working people can testify to the fact that monopoly capitalism has not been ‘’reformed’’ in the last forty years, in the slightest! On the contrary, it is far more difficult to ‘’make ends meet’’, than it was forty years ago! So much for fighting for reforms! Socialists in name only! Democratic Reformers in practice! Or as Lenin referred to such people, mere Economists!
As Lenin made clear, in What Is To Be Done?, the ‘’spontaneous element’’, represents nothing more nor less than ‘’consciousness in an embryonic form’’.
On that subject, we can say that the American working class is deeply focused on the Epstein Scandal, as well as the current state of upheaval, within the American government. We can also say that this is part of the spontaneous movement, of the working class. Now our goal, that of Scientific Socialists, Communists, is to merge that spontaneous movement, with that of the movement for Scientific Socialism!
Lenin went into this, in considerable detail, as it is so important. I have decided to state the highlights, which he wrote, in response to the mass movement of the Russian working class:
‘’There could not yet be Social Democratic consciousness among the workers. This consciousness could only be brought to them from without. The history of all countries shows that the working class, exclusively by its own efforts, is able to develop only trade union consciousness, i.e., it may itself realize the necessity of for combining in unions, for fighting against the employers and for striving to compel the government to pass necessary labour legislation, etc. The theory of socialism, however, grew out of the philosophic, historical and economic theories that were elaborated by the educated representatives of the propertied classes, the intellectuals. According to their social status, the founders of modern Scientific Socialism, Marx and Engels, themselves belonged to the bourgeois intelligentsia. Similarly, in Russia, the theoretical doctrine of Social Democracy arose quite independently of the spontaneous growth of the labour movement; it arose as a natural and inevitable outcome of the ideas among the revolutionary socialist intelligentsia. …Hence, simultaneously, we had the spontaneous awakening of the masses of the workers, the awakening to conscious life and struggle, as well as the revolutionary youth, armed with the Social Democratic theories, striving to reach the workers…the early Social Democrats of that period zealously carried on economic agitation…but they did not regard this as their sole task. On thecontrary, from the very outset, they brought forward the widest historical task of Russian Social Democracy…’’ (italics by Lenin, also the term i.e., means ‘’that is’’, and the term Social Democracy is today referred to as Communism)
Today, in North America, we are faced with a similar problem. A great many people, who claim to be ‘’Leftist’’, possibly even Socialist, and take great delight in flooding the internet with videos, are focused on the turmoil within Washington, but strictly within an ‘’Economic’’ standpoint. I use that expression in the broadest possible sense, to include the interests of the two mainstream political parties. They present the class struggle as a struggle between the ‘’progressive’’ Democrats and the ‘’reactionary’’ Republicans. In fact, both parties serve the same class. One is every bit as reactionary as the other.
One important difference, between our current situation and that of pre-Revolutionary Russia, is the fact that the American working class is now quite cultured. The vast majority of workers are now literate, and many have access to digital devices. With these digital devices, they are able to access the internet, and download various items. These include videos, articles, and select works of Marx and Lenin. This makes our tasks, the tasks of Communists, much simpler and easier, that it was for the Russian Communists, at the time in which Lenin worked.
Bear in mind that Lenin was able to return from exile, only in April of 1917. Yet he faced the immediate task of preparing the common people of Russia, both workers and farmers, for the Scientific Socialist Revolution, of October. And succeeded! Within a mere few months! If he could do it, then so can we!
That being said, may I suggest that all advanced workers are encouraged to read State and Revolution, by Lenin. That article stresses the importance of smashing the existing state apparatus, at the time of the Revolution, and replacing it with a different state apparatus, in the form of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat!
This is absolutely necessary, as after the Revolution, after the multi billionaires, the monopoly capitalists, the bourgeoisie, are stripped of their wealth and power, their resistance will increase tenfold! They will stoop to any depth, any deception, in order to return to power. That includes sending their people, accomplished liars, one and all, into the Communist Party!
To go ‘’to the length’’, to ‘’stoop to the depth’’, of pretending to be a ‘’fine Communist’’, when they so passionately hate any and all Communists, is an indication of their determination to return to power!
In conclusion, the advanced workers are capable of raising themselves to the level of Scientific Socialists, Communists, by reading the select works of Marx and Lenin. Also, middle class intellectuals, who have been exposed to the distortion of the revolutionary theories of those two, in University, can also raise themselves to that level. They can then help to perform the most valuable task, of helping to raise the most advanced workers, to that same level.
Bear in mind that the Second American Revolution is already underway. Very soon, an Insurrection will take place. It could be spontaneous, although if it is well planned, it has a far better chance of success. If successful, it is the plan of those who are ‘’Socialists’’, but in name only, to take over the existing state apparatus, and set themselves up, as the new rulers!
The only way to prevent this, is by raising the level of awareness of the working class! Otherwise this, the Second American Revolution, will merely result in a change of rulers. God forbid!
