53)Another Pterodactyl Correction

For many years it has been my contention that only the largest reptiles can survive in this cold climate. I have used this to help to explain the reason that only the largest of flying reptiles, those which are technically referred to as pterosaurs but are commonly known as pterodactyls, are reported to live in this rather cold country, that of northern Canada. It was a fine theory and it seemed to make perfect sense, and in fact I still think that smaller flying reptiles exist in warmer parts of the world.
Be that as it may, the fact is that recently someone dropped by with a garter snake, one which he had found in a nearby meadow. This snake is a small reptile and proves that small reptiles can and do live in this cold climate, and that proves that my previous theory is mistaken.
No doubt these small reptiles go deep underground for the winter and do not come out of those caves until spring. So now I can say that only the largest reptiles are able to come out of those caves in the winter, in temperatures which are considerably below freezing.
This is not to say that smaller flying reptiles do not exist in this cold country, but if they do, I have heard no mention of them.
